IS ~Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei~ review

IS ~Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei~ is a drama starring Fukuda Saki as Hoshino Haru and Gouriki Ayame as Miwako. Haru belonged to the thousand of the IS or intersexual population.( Intersexual- a term referring to people who cannot clearly be classified as male or female, and who may biologically possess characteristics of both sexes) Her love for patisserie made her transfer to a school where in she is opted to wear a female's uniform despite her reasoning that she wore a boy's uniform in her past school. Registered as female she had no choice. She met Miwako the first time she step foot on her new school grounds. They clicked the first time and became friends.

I adore the shear bravery of this drama. It touched an issue no writer dared to write and I find it very very admirable.  The idea of being in the between when it comes to gender identity because genetically they had no choice made me understand more what the people who are IS endure in life. It is a tough world to live in when its only standard is perfection. It regulates a world where media decides what to become. Fear is always a factor for stepping up to what you believe in especially when you can predict the outcome of our freedom of expression.

This is the first time I saw a drama with Fukuda Saki, and from the looks of it I sense an award for portraying the role with conviction and consistency. Kudos also to the Hoshino family in the drama for accepting their child no matter what the gender their child might be. I'm on episode 4 right now and it keeps getting better and better by the minute. Amazing drama. Here are some clips of the drama c/o avanpiper the uploader of this vid on Youtube.

A total recommend!

Last Friends Review

"You are my friends, My Last Friends"

Hey there follower it's been awhile since I added a page. It's not recently that I have stumbled upon this drama called Last Friends...I was viewing Ueno Juri (which by the way belongs to my Top Actress/who I want to be list) on Youtube and this tiny thumbnail said Ruka and sosuke fight scene...I told myself gotta watch this...I did and I found this bi-atch awesome!

I'm afraid I can't give this drama the justice it deserves through my review, but I'd like to give it kudos for it's courage and for showing what human drama really is.

This drama belongs to my all time best list. The story resided in a share house and its five boarders.  First is the main character (I find this doubtful, acting wise) Michiru, who suffers from a broken home and a happy-go-lucky mother. Trying to escape what once was her life, she lived with her boyfriend Sosuke knowing that this person was her refuge. The perfect Love story, right? -NO! Sosuke wasn't a prince but a thug in a prince's uniform who only treats women as if they are dogs you can name and pet whenever he wants. Second, is Ruka a professional "female" motorcrosser and Michiru's highschool bestfriend. I'm not going to spoil you guys with all the bits and pieces but I'll just give you the gist of it. Ruka is in love with Michiru but doesn't know how to tell her, instead she let's her actions speak for itself by taking care of her when Michiru escaped from the wrath of the "Sousuke Monster".Third, is my personal Favorite (besides Ruka) is Takeru, for me he is the perfect guy/boyfriend/husband/bestfriend/hero/knight-in-shining-armor/hair-dresser person. He has a past he can't share with his friends but somehow it did not affect his friendship skills. What I liked about him is his love (spoiler alert!) towards Ruka.

The rest of the casts are Eri and Ogurin...this two love-hate couple aren't really sure how there relationship is going, Ogurin is married to his cheating wife and Eri is so frustrated on how Ogurin can't even handle his wife and his feelings towards Eri.

Ueno juri bagged the best supporting actress as Ruka and this drama made #1 on the ratings in Japan.
This drama will touch and break your heart. A drama that is unique and real at the same time. A total recommend.

Mary and Max Review

“God gives us Relatives; thank God we can choose are friends”
Mary and Max is a story about friendship that travels across two continents and reaches each other’s hearts through pen and paper.  Mary is a nine year old girl who lives in Australia with her mother and father.  Her only wish was to have a friend where she can share her troubles and ideas with. She had a thought, how do babies come from in America? That question led her to picking a number in an American phone directory and decided to write to that person. The letter was delivered to Max, a 40-something year old New Yorker, a person who perceives himself as logical and literal.  One letter and a chocolate led to another and the web of mail and friendship began.
What captured me about this movie the most is its honesty and humor. Honesty, because they as an animated film they were not afraid to deliver dialogues as honest as possible. For example, about religion and the people who does and doesn’t belong to one. Humor, because they could turn the saddest scenario of their life to a funny anecdote. How they portrayed Max’s anxiety attack to a very effective punch line. The beauty of it all is everything that looked wrong had a very reasonable right. How a piece of mail can raise the interest of the person who can relate to it and finally a friendship can bloom. It is how destiny plays a role as the joker and as the epiphany. It told about life’s irony and human being’s inconsideration seen through the eyes in a logical and literal manner.
This film would never appeal to a child, it is not colorful, the characters aren’t drawn to please the eyes and there are topics that are too early for a child to discover. But, I am certain that it will appeal to an audience who are ready to grasp the harsh and yet comical realities it delivers. The fact that it is animated makes it easier to process and the blow would be less depressing. Not to mention the music is not that bad, I love the music. Art wise I find it poignant and hilarious at the same time. Each scenes captured had a specific emotion assigned to it, I am not going to say this film is perfect because I am imperfect we are all imperfect and it is for us to embrace who we are warts and all.

Chivalry is dead ...and so is Feminism

Chivalry and Feminism are two contradicting ideas when you look back to its origin. But somehow these two ideas are what we consider in the animal kingdom "endangered". They will soon cease to exist as we know it.

We consider King Arthur's time the golden age of knighthood. Thus, the term chivalry came to be. It is where a knight or a sir is an object of every lass's affection, every "damsel in distress's" rescue and every squires role model. What is a man's role in a household, in a workplace and in a relationship?
Feminism, what is it? it is political, emotional and social stand point about the equality of sexes. In the late 80's and early 90's women are starting to acquire and finally immerse in a man's world. Women are starting to break boundaries and are starting to burn their bras as a symbol for equality among men and women. Before feminism erupted women and suffrage c can never be used in one sentence. And since feminism came to be women are now taking their stand and finding their place in this world. What is a woman's role in a household, a workplace and in a relationship?
Looking back at this two ideas, do you think they exist now? A comedian once said that chivalry is dead... and women killed it. Do feminists intimidate the men? Of course it is not feminism, for a feminist would never ask a man a favor if life depended on it. She would do it herself. The answer is women still live in the past. They still view men as knights. Even though feminism is existing they are still women who expect chivalry. The problem is men don't want to live in the past anymore. They want to be bachelors and live their lives one women at a time. So the verdict of killing these two powerful ideas are in fact men and women. They totally converted the world into Confusionism (pardon the pun).

Still don't get my point?

Okay, here is why feminism is dead: (are based on my observation)
1. Women let the guys carry their ultra tiny bags ( it shows weakness)
2.They wear clothes that are made to open the senses of the male genome not only that they dress the same and I mean starwars clones the same.( last week I just saw three women having the same checkered shirt and the same hairstyle)
3. They have a diet of a grain of rice and depend on water for balance
4. When they asked what's new? they answer fashion, celebrities and they argue between tampons or napkins.
5.They give birth to a dozen babies for the sake of preventing a man from leaving them...or is it because they don't use protection anymore.
6. Women prefer a man's opinion over theirs. and lastly
7.They consider women celebrities goddess's when they are in face man stealing eagles!

Men, do you think your safe? I made some observations too
1. You let yourselves carry a woman's handbag (have you no pride?)
2. You let the woman pay the restaurant bills (who is wearing the pants in this relationship?)
3. You don't know the difference between friendship and girlfriendship
4. You get intimidated easily ( self absorbed much)
5. You say one thing and do another-lies, lies, lies
6. You yell at a woman in front of everyone to show authority

Okay, if you think I'm generalizing all women and men...of course their are exceptions. But, don't you fear this? Women are now depending so much in men and men don't want women to depend on them anymore. What is really our role as people? Mutual or the other way around. What is the solution? I do have an answer but, you can or cannot consider it. All we have to do is depend in ourselves and expect good to spread out of your good intentions. Chivalry and feminism may be at a loss right now. But, soon they will not exist anymore- but, I think It could be for the better. For I hope men and women will understand each other now and we don't need labels to dictate who we are.

Blogger Virgin an Introduction to Self

Well it's my first blogging experience ever and I know most of you guys have written the same first line as I did. Well, as I searched through the word membranes in my head, the words I found were-excited, anxious, clueless and the colors I feel now is black and white. As the title of my first blog indicated I would love to introduce myself...well not all of it but parts of myself.

I study advertising, I love the art part of it and I love knowing the fact that I could touch people's lives using the skills I've learned in it. Being in my 20's, I haven't seen yet the bigger picture in my life. I love movies about love, friendship, pursuits, action, innocence and fantasy. Reading novels is what I find pleasure in doing when I can't sleep- Sleeping sometimes can be tough when you do a lot of thinking. I live in SE Asia...okay Philippines...Love it here!

Being a Blogger Virgin I don't know what the dynamics or what to expect really. I think I would be speaking my mind about things a lot, Giving my opinions about the things I've watched and the things I've read. I think the beauty of blogging based on what I've heard about it is you get to deliver facts and opinions about things and finally finding a space on this complex world called the internet...well bye bye for now...Hopefully I can make this work.
